Cosmetic Braces Options for Los Angeles and Beyond

February 28, 2014

BracesA straight, beautiful smile can help you enjoy better oral health and self-confidence. Not everyone’s smile is naturally straight, though. For patients who need a little extra help overcoming an underbite, overbite, crossbite, or crowded or gapped teeth, Dr. Latner of Westside Dental Associates offers two great options for cosmetic braces: Six Month Smiles and Invisalign.

Six Month Smiles uses a set of clear brackets and tooth-colored wires to move teeth into their ideal position. The process really does take just six months to complete, and some patients are able to achieve results slightly quicker.

Invisalign, on the other hand, works a little differently. Instead of using brackets and wires, this great system uses a series of clear trays, also known as aligners. Dr. Latner will use 3D computer imaging to design your entire treatment, from start to finish, so that every tray is precisely made for a specific part of the treatment process. When you have your aligners, moving your teeth into their ideal position is as simple as wearing each one for approximately two weeks.

Make 2014 the year you improve oral and overall health with one of our office’s options for cosmetic braces. Call Westside Dental Associates for an appointment with Dr. Latner. During your visit with us, we can help you understand if Invisalign or Six Month Smiles is right for you. We offer cosmetic braces to patients from Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, West LA, Mar Vista, Culver City, Rancho Park, Westwood, Brentwood, Venice, Marina del Rey, Playa Vista, and beyond.

The Convenience of Take-Home Whitening

January 21, 2014

teeth whitening

You might already know that Dr. Latner can whiten your smile in one appointment with Zoom! Whitening, but did you know that our Los Angeles office also has a second whitening option? Take-home whitening is a convenient alternative to in-office whitening, and one that works especially well for patients with sensitive teeth. It’s also a good option for patients who want to give their smile an extra boost several weeks after an initial treatment with in-office whitening. Combining in-office whitening with take-home whitening is a good way to make your dazzling results last even longer.

Here’s how take-home whitening works.

First, you’ll come to see Dr. Latner of Westside Dental Associates for a special consultation. As part of that consultation, we’ll take impressions of your teeth so that a set of custom whitening trays can be made. When your trays are ready, we’ll also give you a supply of professional whitening gel.

To whiten your teeth at home, simply line your trays with your whitening gel and wear them for 30 minutes a day for between one and two weeks. Over that time, the stains on your teeth will fade, revealing a more dazzling smile. While you whiten, you can take care of some chores around the house, or you can relax with a book or in front of the TV.

If in-office whitening has made your teeth sensitive in the past, take-home whitening may be more comfortable. If you still experience sensitivity, follow-up your daily treatment by lining your liners with a toothpaste like Sensodyne and wearing them for half an hour.

Are you ready to transform your smile with take-home whitening? Call us today for an appointment. We whiten smiles from Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, West LA, Mar Vista, Culver City, Rancho Park, Westwood, Brentwood, Venice, Marina del Rey, Playa Vista, and beyond.

Tackle Stains and Misalignment with Porcelain Veneers

September 30, 2013

porcelain veneersAre you so embarrassed of your smile that you hide it when you talk or laugh? Do the beautiful smiles you see on TV, at the movies, or in your favorite magazines just seem to make your feelings even worse? At Westside Dental Associates, a unique cosmetic solution can help you overcome these feelings to enjoy a better sense of self-confidence. It’s called porcelain veneers.

With porcelain veneers, Dr. Latner can help you tackle two common cosmetic issues: staining and flaws like misalignment or cracks and chips. What’s more, you can see fully customized results in just two appointments.

Here’s how the process looks.

First, Dr. Latner will talk to you about the changes you want to make during a special consultation appointment. Your porcelain veneers will be designed to reflect your goals and the shade and shape of surrounding teeth. Then, before you go, Dr. Latner will prep your teeth for your final veneers.

When those final porcelain veneers are ready, you’ll come back to our Los Angeles office to have them attached. Afterwards, you can go back to your normal schedule with your beautiful new smile completed and ready to show the world.

Correcting Overbites, Underbites, and Crossbites with Invisalign

September 27, 2013

InvisalignHow confident are you about the appearance of your smile? If you’re answer to that is, “Not very,” Dr. Latner of Westside Dental Associates offers Invisalign, an excellent cosmetic solution for treating overbites, underbites, and crossbites.

Invisalign isn’t the only cosmetic braces option available today, but it’s among the most popular and effective. And for adults who want to project a professional, mature appearance, the major benefit of Invisalign is that it doesn’t rely on brackets or wires to move teeth. Instead, Invisalign uses a series of clear trays to gradually move teeth into their ideal position.

Why should you straighten your smile? Because outside of making you feel less confident, teeth that are misaligned, crowded, or unevenly spaced can also make you more vulnerable to decay and gum disease, whereas straight teeth can significantly lower your risk of these.

How can you tell if Invisalign is right for you? Dr. Latner will complete a special oral assessment at his Los Angeles dental office. If it is right for you, we’ll work alongside the Invisalign lab to design your entire treatment.

Once you have your completed treatment kit, you’ll just need to wear each set of aligners for about two weeks before moving on to the next set.

Treatment with Invisalign is:

  • Comfortable
  • Clear
  • Quick

As you work on creating your straighter, more attractive smile, you can look forward to enjoying discreet care. What’s more, Invisalign’s trays can be taken out to eat, brush, and floss, letting you enjoy a normal diet and oral health regimen.

Do you have questions about Invisalign? Call Westside Dental Associates today to schedule you consultation with Dr. Latner. We offer care with Invisalign to patients from Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, West LA, Mar Vista, and beyond.

Teeth Whitening with Zoom!

August 22, 2013

teeth whiteningFew people have a naturally bright smile. That’s because so many things we run into on a daily basis can cause stains—things like coffee, tea, red wine, juice, and soda, for instance. Tobacco use also contributes, as does aging. All of which explains why teeth whitening is among the most popular cosmetic dentistry services offered by Westside Dental Associates.

Teeth whitening with Zoom! is easy and yields amazing results. With just one appointment, you can expect to see your smile brightened by anywhere between 6 to 10 shades.

How does Zoom! work?

It starts with us making sure you’re comfortably seated. We’ll put a protective cover over your lips and gums, and then apply the special Zoom! Whitening gel to your teeth. A low-heat lamp will activate the gel, which, over the course of an hour, will penetrate the enamel and dentin in your teeth to remove stains and discoloration. When we’re all done, we’ll finish your visit by applying a fluoride treatment to your teeth to give them special protection.

That’s all there is to it!

Call Westside Dental Associates to find out more about teeth whitening and our other cosmetic and restorative solutions. Dr. Latner whitens smiles from Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, West LA, Mar Vista, and beyond.

One-Appointment Cosmetic Bonding

June 13, 2013

cosmetic bondingMany patients dream of a more beautiful smile. For some, though, the expense or the inconvenience of multiple visits can be off-putting. But there’s one service that allows you to get the cosmetic care you’re looking for at a smaller price and in just one appointment—it’s called cosmetic bonding.

Cosmetic bonding is a great solution for patients who have a chipped or slightly misaligned tooth that they want you to restore. To do that, Dr. Latner will apply a putty-like material known as composite resin to the surface of the tooth. To make sure that your restored tooth matches the rest of your smile, the resin will be shaded to blend in.

When the resin has cured with a curing light, Dr. Latner will complete your procedures by sculpting and shaping it.

Caring for Your Restoration

Once your smile has been restored with cosmetic bonding, you might wonder how you can keep it looking beautiful. The answer is simple, just brush and floss like you normally would. If cared for properly, you can expect cosmetic bonding to last for 5 to 10 years.

Are you looking for an alternative to porcelain veneers that can help you enjoy better self-confidence? Talk to Dr. Latner of Westside Dental Associates about cosmetic bonding. Our Los Angeles team would be happy to answer any questions you might have. We serve patients from Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, West LA, Mar Vista, and beyond.
